Loading example: Pipes

At least two additional lashing straps per pipe stack are necessary in a situation, where the side walls are not strong enough or in case the loaded goods are stacked higher than the side walls.
Additional load securing means are not necessary when the goods are loaded directly against a strong supporting end wall. There should not be any gaps in between the individual pipe stacks in longitudinal direction unless they are braced.
Explanation:
(1) strong supporting end wall; (2) side walls; (3) and (4) squared timber in between layers with nailed on pipe wedges; (5) ANTI-SLIPPING MATS (6) lashing points; (7) lashing means such as lashing straps, chains or similar devices.

This is an extremely dangerous way of loading. The topmost pipes can slip towards the front, as they are only retained by relatively weak lashing straps.
